 Virtualization is the way most data centers are going. Are you? Why go virtual? Simple! Incredible hardware cost savings and reduced administrative complexity. UniMatrix offers Xen Virtual Private Servers to allow hosting clients to have total, unrestricted root access to their own "server"-- without the expense of an entire dedicated server. Install whatever you like (so long as its legal, of course!).
Prices start at just US$95/month in the U.S. and at just €110/month in London or Paris. We offer Debian, CentOS, and Gentoo Linux at those prices. Windows "available", but costs more (and you must provide all software with licensing)...
 Our hosting hardware:
We currently use only Supermicro 1U servers with PDSME+, PDSMU and PDSMU+ motherboard and core2 duo or quad processor with VT and EM64T features (1066 MHz RAM), so we can run 64-bit operating systems. All our servers have at least 4x1GB of RAM and 2x320 SATA2 hard drives. Older servers are Intel P4 servers with 800 MHz FSB and HT at more than 3GHz, with 2GB or 4GB of RAM, and 2x200 or 2x300 GB SATA drive using soft RAID1 and LVM, under Linux Debian (200GB or 300GB of data with RAID1 redundancy) for xen dom0. We don't currently use expensive dual-core Xeon platforms, as the cost of a single processor would double the overall retail price. We are convinced that the consumer product (the newest Pentium with VT and dual FSB) are perfect, as they offer you the best deal with the maximum power. Also, we keep using 4x1GB ram and not more for each of our servers as we don't want to put too much customers on the same server (like other hosts do).
Your virtual server will be hosted in a native LVM partition of physical servers for faster access (no slow NFS access) and we have never more than 12 to 16 customers on the same server to provide good quality.
Few words about Xen virtualization software:
We use Xen virtualization system because it's simply the state of the art in virtual server hosting (VPS hosting). With Xen, end users enjoy short cpu, hard drive and network latencies thanks to accurate scheduling (note: this is totally different from other virtualization technologies like UML, vServer or Virtuozzo). Memory is not shared and not burstable among users, the physical memory is simply split a slice that we rent to you, the same way we do with LVM HDD slices.
VPS hosting traffic:
You mayl discuss with us the traffic shaping policy that fits the best your needs when using your Virtual Private Server, and we will help you to setup linux CBQ traffic shaping with either strong or very bustable bandwidth, to protect you against high unwanted peaks but providing a good quality of bandwidth. Bandwidth overage is calculated at the rate of $1.00 each GB over quota, accounted on your end-of-the-month invoice. Monthly costs are to be paid in advance.
Standard VPS Packages:
This server will be already configured for hosting with no added charges.
 DEBIAN - We can setup sarge and etch system as you require, and this solution is fully managed, including our control panel and it's dependencies. Software maintainance is not our responsability, but we do provide extensive help on instant messenger for almost all kinds of issues, thanks to more than 8 years of experience in Debian administration and programming.
 CentOS - We can setup CentOS 4 or 5. CentOS is a very nice open source fork of RedHat Entreprise Linux that is getting very popular. Software and operating system maintenance is your responsibility under this operating system.
 Gentoo - We can setup Gentoo. Gentoo is a very nice source based linux distribution. We suggest you to take enough memory to be able to recompile the software you will need. Software and operating system maintenance is your responsibility.
 NetBSD - NetBSD 5.0 can be setup as Xen domU kernel is natively supported by the NetBSD source kernels. Software and operating system maintenance is your responsibility.
